Hello, I'm Alex.
Gardening has been my passion ever since I was 15.
My journey began during a work experience program where I had the privilege of working with a gardener named Dave.
He taught me not only the basics of landscape gardening, but the importance of building strong relationships with clients. Gardening became my way to connect with people, understand their vision, and bring it to life in their outdoor spaces.
After discovering my passion, I trained at Sparsholt College and had the privilege of working on a private estate, where I learned to maintain gardens to the highest standards.
It was like working in a Michelin-starred restaurant—everything had to be maintained to an impeccable standard. This experience shaped my approach, and I carry that meticulous attention to detail with me in every client project.
As a landscape gardener, I take great pride in offering services that go beyond basic garden maintenance.
For the past 16 years, I’ve sharpened my skills in all kinds of settings, managing three private estates - two of which I led as Head Gardener.
Along the way, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the art of gardening, as well as the science of maintaining and enhancing complex landscapes.
The Garden Guys Story
Two years ago, my wife and I took the leap and started our own business - The Garden Guys.
Some might wonder why we chose to enter a crowded market like landscape gardening. The answer is simple: we saw the market as saturated for the wrong reasons.
In any industry, you can either follow the crowd or take a different path. Many new businesses “zig”—offering straightforward services under familiar names like “Bobs Garden Maintenance.” We chose to “zag” by creating a brand that stands out, a brand where reputation, trust, and quality are our driving forces.
The name The Garden Guys reflects our vision to be more than just a “one-man band.” We always aspired to build a team, bringing together the best talents in the field to provide exceptional service.
The goal was to set a new standard in an industry often undervalued as unskilled. While I respect the enthusiasm of young gardeners earning some extra income, landscape gardening is a skilled profession that requires training, whether it’s hands-on or in a classroom.
